Mohd Sofian Ujan bin Empatie (Sofian) or also known as the Pendekar Rimba which means Jungle Warrior, qualified instructor hailing from the tropical paradise of Malaysia.

He’s a native from the famous Iban tribe of Sarawak in the island of Borneo, coming from a proud heritage of brave warriors well-versed in jungle way of life. He grew up in pristine jungle environment with tutelage by his late grandfather and father in the various jungle life skills and Iban arts and culture.
After his secondary education, Sofian joined the Malaysian armed forces, graduating as the top student in his batch and served in the army’s commando/special forces group also known as Gerup Gerakhas for 21 years. Among his professional expertise include specialization in the field of jungle operations include jungle survival instructor and combat tracking. Sofian is also a highly trained and experienced instructor in counter-insurgency in which he was in the front line of Grup Gerakhas in Operation Daulat 2013, a military campaign to defend against foreign insurgent armed invasion of Sabah, a State in East Malaysia bordering Philipines to the North.
He participated in several United Nation peace keeping missions in Lebanon and Afghanistan with tour stint of several years in the overseas location. Sofian also regularly participated in several training sessions with special forces teams from other countries such as Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Jordan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, UK and USA.
After retiring with honors from the military in 2017, Sofian has been active in conducting jungle survival courses in Malaysia for the public and participants include foreign students from several countries. He also the main author of a series of Jungle Survival books in Malaysian National language
